Every day is Earth Day at Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County. Habitat Bucks recycled 140,000 pounds of metal and 3,065,798 pounds of used items were given a second chance and sold in the ReStores last year.

In addition, Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County has partnered with Revolution Recovery to eliminate recyclable materials from the landfill. To turn Habitat Bucks bulk waste into recyclable material, Revolution Recovery has a special process that sorts, shreds, and separates materials for recycling.

Habitat Bucks diverted over 80% of its waste from the landfill in 2018, including 640,000 pounds of bulk waste through its partnership with Revolution Recovery. All told, Habitat Bucks has eliminated 3,845,798 pounds of waste from the landfill over the past year.

Another way that Revolution Recovery partners with Habitat Bucks is through its work with local contractors who are doing renovations. Revolution Recovery delivers unwanted, like-new office furniture and appliances from these jobs to the Habitat Bucks ReStores in Langhorne and Chalfont for resale.

“Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County is proud to partner with Revolution Recovery. Waste removal is not just a utility we all need to pay. It’s an opportunity, and a partnership to do good and support our environment,” says B.J. Breish, Habitat Bucks ReStore Director. “The Habitat Bucks ReStores keep the planet a little greener by recycling and upcycling materials that would have ended up in a landfill.”

“There is immeasurable value in collaborating with an organization like Habitat Bucks that shares our core goal of reclaiming construction materials for better use,” says Mike Castellano, Business Development AssociateRevolution Recovery. “As a society, our waste management priority should be to reuse first and recycle second; this partnership with Habitat Bucks uniquely enables both solutions. When our customers need to dispose of like-new materials, we’re delighted to refer them to Habitat for Humanity Bucks County. Together, we’re working to close the loop on construction waste.”
